Herne Hill Velodrome Fund Raising Event

A group of elite athletes (well smiling enthusiastic participants) descended on the suburb of Herne Hill on Saturday to master the Velodrome.

Tucked away behind a leafy street is a true London gem. HHV has been home to cycling since 1891 and famously hosted the Summer Olympics in 1948.

Under the careful watch of Tony “the trainer” we were put through our paces on the bikes. For some this was the first time experiencing a fixie and being physically attached to the bike. Not for the faint hearted! After a few laps we settled into the rhythm and some really excelled – especially at the “chase”. I put my early retirement down to tired legs – at least it was the winner who knocked me out.

A MASSIVE thank you to the Gutsy Gastro team for arranging a fantastic event. The support from the side lines was great and looking forward to the next one….. skydiving from the edge of space?
